This "User Privacy Policy" (hereinafter referred to as the "Privacy Policy") is an inseparable part of the "User Agreement" (hereinafter referred to as the "User Agreement") and is jointly entered into by the user (also referred to as "you") and LAN‐BRIDGE COMMUNICATIONS PTE. LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "the Company" or "we").

If you are a minor, you are required to read this Privacy Policy in the presence of your guardian. Please ensure that both you and your guardian read this Privacy Policy carefully, and you may only use our products and services after obtaining the consent of your guardian to all terms of this Privacy Policy.

We absolutely respect users' privacy and information and will strictly protect your privacy and personal information. When you use our products and services, we may collect and use certain personal information about you. Through this Privacy Policy, we would like to explain to you our rules and practices about collecting and using your personal information in order to better safeguard your rights and interests. The following explanations are hereby made to you:

1. Definitions

Unless otherwise agreed, the terms used in this Privacy Policy shall usually carry the following meanings. If not specified in this Privacy Policy, definitions are consistent with those in the User Agreement:

1.1 Personal Information: Refers to all types of information recorded electronically or otherwise that can identify a specific natural person alone or in combination with other information or reflect the activities of a specific natural person. Examples of personal information: basic personal information (including name, birthday, gender, address, personal mobile phone number, email address, etc.), personal identification information (including ID number), online identifiers (including system account, password, IP address, digital certificate, etc.), financial information (including bank account, password, transaction and consumption records, virtual currency, virtual transactions, redemption codes), browsing records (including website browsing history, software usage history, translation history, etc.), frequently used device information (including hardware serial number, hardware model, device MAC address, operating system type, software lists, unique device identifiers, etc.), and location information (including geographic information corresponding to the IP address, etc.). The types of personal information we actually collect shall be as described in this Privacy Policy.

1.2 Sensitive Personal Information: Refers to personal information, the leakage, illegal provision, or misuse of which may endanger personal or property safety, or easily lead to damage to personal reputation, mental or physical health, or discriminatory treatment. Examples include your financial information, identification information, precise location information, and children's personal information. The types of sensitive personal information we collect shall be as described in this Privacy Policy.

1.3 Device: Refers to a device that can be used to access or use our products and services, such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

1.4 Unique Device Identifier: Refers to a string of characters embedded in a device by the device manufacturer that can uniquely identify the device (such as IMEI/android ID/IDFA/OpenUDID/GUID/SIM/IMSI, etc.).

1.5 IP Address: Each device accessing the internet is assigned a number known as an Internet Protocol (IP) address, which is usually assigned regionally.

1.6 Cookie: Cookies are small files containing strings of information sent to and stored on your computer, mobile device, or other device (usually encrypted) when you access and use websites or other online content. Cookie-like technologies refer to other technologies used for similar purposes, such as web beacons, proxy, embedded scripts, etc.

1.7 Account: Also known as “user account.” Refers to an account successively registered by the user according to the User Agreement and relevant laws and regulations for the purpose of using the products and services.

1.8 Chiao!: Refers to the conversational AI document translation product operated by the company (chiao.app), including but not limited to the web and mobile versions of the product or any other adapted versions operable on various devices.

2. How We Collect and Use Personal Information

We collect and use the personal information you actively provide or that is necessary for our products and/or services during your use, in accordance with laws and regulations and the principles of legitimacy, legality, and necessity. If we want to use your personal information for purposes not specified in this Privacy Policy, or collect it for other purposes based on specific reasons, we will inform you in a reasonable manner and obtain your consent before use.

The types of personal information we collect and use are as follows:
The first type is information necessary for the core business functions of our products and/or services: without this information, the basic functions cannot operate, and you must authorize us to collect it. If you refuse, you will not be able to use our products and/or services properly;
The second type is information that may need to be collected for additional business features: this is not essential for core services, and you may choose whether to authorize us to collect it. If you refuse, the related additional features may not work or may not achieve optimal results, but your use of core features will not be affected.

You understand and agree that we aim to provide you with complete products and services, so we will continuously improve them, including our technologies. This means we may introduce new business functionalities and may need to collect new personal information or change the purposes or methods of personal information usage. If a function or product/service requiring personal information collection is not covered in this Privacy Policy, we will explain separately via updates, prompts, pop-ups, or website notices about the purpose, scope, and method of information collection, and provide you the option to agree before collecting it.
If you have any questions about this process, you can contact us via the methods in Section 9 of this Privacy Policy, and we will respond as soon as possible.

During your use of our products and services, we typically collect and use your personal information in the following scenarios:

2.1 Account Registration

(1) When you register and log in to a user account or use our products and services, you must complete a series of registration procedures as guided, during which you need to provide us with: email address, username, password. This is used to identify you as a user and save your login information to ensure account security. This information is necessary for you to register and log in or use our core services and, if not provided, you may be unable to use our products or services.

(2) Our services support login using a third-party platform account. If you log in using an account from a third-party platform, we will obtain related information under that account with your authorization (including third-party account, username, nickname, avatar, and any other authorized information, as shown on the authorization page). This is necessary to provide account login services and ensure your account security and prevent security risks. If you refuse to authorize this information, you will not be able to log in via the third-party platform, but your use of other products and services will not be affected.

2.2 During Your Use of the Product and Service:

(1) Document Translation Service:
When you use our core translation functionality, we need to collect the document content you upload, the text content you input, and your translation preferences (such as source and target language selections). We collect this information in order to:
① provide you with accurate translation services;
② call third-party AI services (such as ChatGPT) for translation processing;
③ store your translation history (for different durations according to your membership level);
④ optimize translation quality and user experience.
Please note that the content you upload will be transferred to third-party AI service providers (such as OpenAI) for processing, and we will require these providers to comply with relevant privacy protection standards. If you refuse to provide the above information, you will not be able to use our translation services.

(2) Device and Log Information:
Including device information (unique device identifier, device serial number, manufacturer, device name, type, version, model, MAC address), online identifiers (IP address), operating system and process information, network environment, browser information, service access records, usage logs, error logs, etc. We collect this information in order to:
① verify account information and ensure its security;
② analyze service usage to optimize performance;
③ troubleshoot and maintain the system;
④ prevent network attacks and malicious acts.

(3) Transaction Information:
Including recharge records, subscription records, consumption records and other necessary transaction-related information. If you use the paid subscription feature, we will collect the above to allow you to access your transaction records, safeguard your transaction security, and provide customer support in case of disputes. Recharge and consumption records constitute sensitive personal information; collection is required for paid features, failing which the transaction cannot be completed.

(4) Usage Behavior Data:
Including your translation request frequency, usage duration, feature preferences, language pair selections, etc. We collect this information to:
① understand user habits and improve product features;
② analyze and statistically process data (after anonymization);
③ provide you with a personalized experience;
④ detect abnormal usage and maintain system security.

2.3 Customer Service

If you make a complaint, appeal, inquiry, or request account cancellation, to ensure your account and system security, we may require you to first provide account information for verification and match it to previously collected information to verify your identity. To contact or assist you, we may also need your name, phone number, email, and other contact details. In addition, we will collect your communications with us (including text/picture/email records) and other necessary information relating to your request. The above is sensitive personal information; collection is for investigating incidents and helpful in resolving your issue. If you refuse to provide this information, we may not be able to process your request in a timely manner.

Our customer service may contact you via email to better understand customer needs, learn about your experience, solicit feedback, or conduct activity follow-ups. If you do not wish to receive such emails, you may contact us as specified in Section 9, and we will stop contacting you in this way.

2.4 Cookies and Similar Technologies

To improve services, we may use cookies and similar technologies to store and, at certain times, track user data. Uses are limited to:
① maintaining your login status;
② remembering your preferences (such as language or interface settings);
③ analyzing site usage to optimize user experience;
④ providing security and preventing malicious attacks.
You may manage cookies through your browser settings. Please note that disabling certain cookies may affect the normal use of product features.

2.5 According to relevant laws and regulations, we may collect and use your personal information without your prior authorization and consent under the following circumstances:

(1) related to fulfilling statutory obligations;
(2) directly related to national security or defense;
(3) directly related to public safety, public health, or major public interest;
(4) directly related to criminal investigation, prosecution, trial, and execution of judgments;
(5) for the protection of your or another person’s major legitimate interests such as life, property, reputation, but it is hard to obtain your consent;
(6) information you made public yourself;
(7) information collected from legitimate disclosures such as news reports or government public information;
(8) necessary for entering and performance of a contract, as per your request;
(9) necessary for maintaining the security and stability of our provided products or services, such as discovering and dealing with faults;
(10) necessary for legitimate news reporting;
(11) necessary for statistical or academic research conducted in the public interest, provided de-identified personal information is publicly presented;
(12) other circumstances as prescribed by laws.

Please note that as our products and services are updated and developed, if a new function or service not listed above collects your information, we will inform you about the content, scope, and purpose of the data collection by pop-ups, process guidance, announcement, etc., and obtain your consent.

3. How We Share, Transfer, and Disclose Your Personal Information

3.1 Sharing

We value the protection of your personal information; it is an important basis and part of our provision of services. We only collect and use your information within the scope and purposes set out herein and as required by law, and keep it strictly confidential. Generally, we will not share your personal information with any company, organization, or individual unless:
(1) we have obtained your explicit authorization/consent in advance;
(2) the sharing is required by applicable laws, legal proceedings, government mandates, or judicial decisions;
(3) it is necessary to protect our, our users', or public interests, property, or safety to the extent permitted by law;
(4) your information may be shared among our affiliated companies. Only necessary data will be shared and subject to this Policy, and affiliates will require renewed authorization if the purpose of use changes;
(5) To provide you with more comprehensive and high-quality products and services, certain services may be provided by authorized partners. We may share necessary personal information with partners only for legal, legitimate, necessary, specific, and explicit purposes, and only for the required provision of services.

Our main partners include:

  • AI Service Providers (such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT): Your translation content will be transmitted to these providers for processing, and we require them to handle your information in accordance with our instructions and applicable privacy standards;
  • Payment Service Providers: to process your subscription payments and transactions, we only share necessary transaction information;
  • Cloud Service Providers: to provide data storage and backup;
  • Technical Service Providers: to provide technical support and system maintenance.

We require partners to handle your personal information in accordance with our instructions, this Privacy Policy, and other applicable confidentiality and security measures. Partners are not authorized to use shared personal information for any other purpose. If you refuse to provide personal information necessary for third-party services, those services may not be available on our platform.

Partners' collection and use of your data are governed by their own privacy policies or statements, not this Privacy Policy. For best protection, please review any third-party service’s privacy policy before use. If you identify a related third-party service risk, stop using it immediately and inform us.

3.2 Transfer

We will not transfer your personal information to any company, organization, or individual except:
(1) with your explicit consent;
(2) as required by applicable law, legal process, or mandatory administrative or judicial requirements;
(3) in cases of merger, acquisition, asset transfer, bankruptcy liquidation, or similar transactions, if personal information is transferred, we will require the new holder to assume obligations under this Privacy Policy or solicit your re-consent.

3.3 Public Disclosure

We will only publicly disclose your personal information under the following circumstances:
(1) after obtaining your explicit consent;
(2) where disclosure is required by law, legal proceedings, lawsuits, or by government authorities.

3.4 Circumstances Not Requiring Prior Consent

According to relevant laws, in the following cases, we may share, transfer, or publicly disclose personal information without your prior authorization or consent:
(1) related to the fulfillment of legal obligations;
(2) directly related to national security/defense;
(3) directly related to public safety, public health, or major public interest;
(4) directly related to criminal investigation, prosecution, trial, judgment enforcement;
(5) for the protection of major legitimate interests where it is difficult to obtain consent;
(6) information you disclose yourself;
(7) information collected from lawful public disclosures such as news and government.

Under law, sharing, transfer, or public disclosure of de-identified personal information (that ensures data recipients cannot re-identify individuals) does not constitute external sharing, transfer, or disclosure of personal information; storage and processing of such data does not require further notice or consent from you.

4. How We Store and Protect Your Personal Information

4.1 Information Storage

(1) Storage Location: We store your personal information collected in data centers in Singapore, as required by law. Since we use third-party AI services (such as ChatGPT) that may operate overseas, your translation content may be transmitted across borders. We require recipients to have sufficient data protection ability and comply with applicable privacy standards.
(2) Storage Period: We retain your personal information for the minimum period necessary to fulfill the purpose of products and services. After the above period, your data will be deleted or anonymized (de-identified).

4.2 Information Security

(1) The security of your personal information is crucial to us. We strictly follow relevant laws and employ reasonable industry-standard measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, disclosure, use, modification, damage, or loss.

(2) Our technical protection measures include:

  • Encryption in Transit: SSL/TLS encryption to secure data transmission;
  • Encrypted Storage: Encryption of sensitive data at rest;
  • Access Control: Rigorous management of access rights, applying the principle of least privilege;
  • Security Monitoring: 24/7 security monitoring to detect and respond to threats;
  • Regular Audits: Regular security vulnerability scans and assessments.

(3) Our management protection measures include:

  • Staff training on data protection and security;
  • Strict employee access controls;
  • Mandatory confidentiality agreements;
  • Incident response and emergency handling mechanisms.

(4) Except as explicitly provided in this Policy, we will not provide, disclose, or share user registration information such as name, ID, contact information, or address with any third party without user consent, except where: authorized by user or guardian; required by law or regulation; required by authorities; for our protection in lawsuits or arbitrations; as requested by a legal guardian.

4.3 User Account Use and Safekeeping

To ensure account security, we have the right to review the authenticity and validity of your registration information and will take technical and management measures to protect your account. You are obligated to keep your account and password safe and use them correctly. Either party’s failure in this regard leading to loss, theft, or compromised rights is liable accordingly.

5. Your Rights to Manage Personal Information

We understand your concerns for personal information and strive to enable you to query, correct, delete, and withdraw your authorization of your information, to ensure your privacy and security. Your rights include:

5.1 The Right to Query Your Personal Information

You may query certain personal information provided to us through the relevant settings or explanation of our product and services, including:
(1) Account Information: View your basic info (email, username, avatar, nickname, etc.) on the profile page;
(2) Translation Records: Access your translation history (varying with membership level) on the translation history page;
(3) Subscription Information: View your subscription status, expiry, etc., in account settings;
(4) Other Information: For retrieval of other information not accessible above, contact us via the way in Section 9.

5.2 The Right to Correct Your Personal Information

If you find the personal information you provided is erroneous, incomplete, or needs updating, you can contact us via Section 9 to request a correction.
(1) For certain fields such as avatar, nickname, password, etc., you may make corrections directly through relevant product features;
(2) For difficulties in exercising these rights, or areas currently not providing online self-correction, you may contact us as per Section 9, and, upon verifying your identity, we will correct/update your information if it does not affect the objectivity and accuracy as required by law.

5.3 The Right to Delete Your Personal Information

(1) For certain data, you may contact us (Section 9) to request deletion. Upon approval, we will delete or anonymize it unless otherwise required by law;
(2) You may also directly request deletion if:
① Our handling of your personal data violates the law;
② We collected/used your personal information without consent;
③ Our processing violates our agreement;
④ You cancel your user account;
⑤ We terminate service and operations.

5.4 The Right to Withdraw Your Consent

Certain features require device permissions (e.g., file upload, microphone, subject to the actual product features used). You may withdraw (or suspend) such authorization at any time post-authorization, such as controlling file upload via browser settings or revoking consent through product features or by deleting your account.
Note that withdrawing consent means we cannot continue to provide related functionalities/services. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on prior authorization.

5.5 The Right to Delete Your Account

You may contact us as per Section 9 to request account deletion. After deletion, you may not log in or use our services; all unused or future rights associated with the account will be removed; all content, data, and records under the account will be deleted or anonymized unless otherwise required by law or regulatory authorities. Account deletion is irreversible.

6. Protection of Minors

6.1 We attach great importance to the information security and protection of minors. We encourage parents or guardians (hereinafter “guardians”) to guide minors in using our services. If you are a minor, please inform your guardian to read and, before using services or providing personal information, obtain their consent and guidance.

6.2 For minor’s personal information collected with guardian’s consent, we will use or disclose it only as allowed by law, with explicit guardian consent, or as necessary to protect the minor.

6.3 If you are the legal guardian of a minor, please pay attention to whether the minor under your care uses our products and services with your consent. If a guardian clearly objects to our provision of services to a minor, we will delete related information and cease providing services to the minor as legally required.

6.4 We recommend that minors use our translation services under guardian supervision, especially when translation involves study or work-related content.

7. Suspension and Termination of Service

7.1 If the user publishes illegal information, seriously violates public ethics, or otherwise breaches prohibitive legal provisions, we reserve the right to immediately terminate service.
7.2 If a user acts improperly while receiving service, we may terminate service.
7.3 We may suspend or terminate your access under the following circumstances:
(1) You violate this Privacy Policy or User Agreement;
(2) You use our service for illegal or non-compliant activities;
(3) You maliciously attack or interfere with our system;
(4) Laws or regulations require us to terminate service;
(5) We decide to discontinue operations.

7.4 After termination, we handle your personal information according to law and this Policy.

8. Updates and Access to This Privacy Policy

8.1 To provide better services, we may update this Privacy Policy according to product updates and legal/regulatory requirements. Such updates form part of this Policy. Without your explicit consent, we will not reduce your rights as stipulated herein. If such updates reduce or otherwise materially change your rights, we will notify you with prominent notices or email. If you continue to use the services, it means you have fully read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.

8.2 Material changes include but are not limited to:
(1) Major changes to our service model, such as changes in purpose, type, or method of personal information processing;
(2) Major changes in ownership or organizational structure, such as business adjustment, bankruptcy, or mergers;
(3) Major changes in the main recipients of shared, transferred, or disclosed information;
(4) Major changes in your rights or how to exercise them;
(5) Changes to contact details or complaint channels for personal information security;
(6) A personal information security impact assessment suggests high risk.

(3) Related to criminal investigation, prosecution, or trial;
(4) Sufficient evidence of malicious intent or abuse of rights;
(5) Response would seriously affect your or others' legitimate rights and interests;
(6) Involves trade secrets;
(7) Other cases prescribed by laws or regulations.

9.3 If you are dissatisfied with our response, especially if our processing of your personal information has infringed your rights, you may file a complaint with regulators or file a lawsuit with a competent court.

10. Dispute Resolution

10.1 This Privacy Policy’s conclusion, execution, interpretation, and dispute resolution are governed by Singapore law.
10.2 In case of dispute, both parties should first seek amicable resolution; if negotiations fail, either party may submit to the Singapore International Arbitration Centre for arbitration.
10.3 If any clause herein is held invalid or unenforceable in part or in whole, the remaining provisions shall remain effective and binding.
